About the Event
Join the Elysian Valley Arts Collective in collaboration with Forager Crafts for a special Community Altar to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Our beautiful altar will be designed and created by Milton "MAJA" Jurado, an influential Ecuadorian-born artist and one of the founding figures of Self-Help Graphics, who helped bring Día de los Muertos celebrations to Los Angeles in the 1970's. View our short documentary on MAJA here: https://vimeo.com/861395331?share=copy
MAJA will be joined by Patricia Perez, a long-time Frogtown resident and EVAC board member. Patricia is an accomplished artist, teacher, and art mentor to many children in Elysian Valley over the years. She will lend her artistry to the creation of the altar.
