About the Event
Join us for a free community workshop for our Elysian Valley Recreation Center Mural Project from 3-6 pm at the Recreation Center in the gymnasium. 1811 Ripple Street Los Angeles 90039.
Meet the three muralist finalists chosen by our review panel; Nicholas Freeman, Milton "Maja" Jurado and Paul Botello and learn about their work. They are excited to meet Elysian Valley community members and hear ideas and thoughts about the proposed mural.
We invite you to share history of the neighborhood and your stories, bring photos & mementos, learn more about public art and take part in deciding what we want for our mural on the recreation center building. We welcome all community members to participate.
We are honored to welcome guest speaker Bea Rulli, Director the the Great Wall Institute. Ms. Rulli has worked with the legendary muralist Judith F. Baca for over 45 years and will speak about Baca's work; the Great Wall of Los Angeles and her experiences during the creation of the work and the nonprofit organization SPARC.
